Indoor Playgrounds Are a Great Place For Children
08 Sep 2008

Looking for a safe haven to take your children to run, play, and learn? Indoor playgrounds have become a popular option for parents looking for a place to let their children run loose and exercise their minds, too.

Complete with slides, ball pits, and other interactive jumping gyms, indoor playgrounds are extremely popular among children and parents alike. Children can enjoy the freedom of an interactive play area, and moms and/or dads can enjoy a lounge (most complete with internet access) to relax and watch their children play.

Parents can breathe easy knowing that indoor playgrounds are not only fun environments for their kids, but they’re also safe. Indoor playground staff members routinely clean and sanitize equipment in the indoor playground. They also set ground rules for children such as no rough housing, socks only, etc.

Kids Motorized Scooters - How to Decide Between Gas Or Electric?
07 Sep 2008

Kids Motorized Scooters are one of the most popular gifts on the market today. Just a few years a go, your son or daughter might have been happy with a kick scooter, but now they want something with a little more oomph. Kids Motorized Scooters are great for delivering that whether you go with a kids gas powered scooter or a kids electric scooter. However, deciding between whether to get a gas or electric scooter can be a little more challenging. Here, are a few questions you should consider in helping figure out this issue:

1. How fast do I want the scooter to go?

For many parents, safety is priority number one. One of the biggest concerns about scooters is the speed with which the gas models can go. Kids gas powered scooters go on average about 30 miles per hour. This speed may be a little faster than you would prefer. If this is the case, a kids electric scooter may be more to your liking because they average about 15 to 20 miles per hour. However, expect there may be some opposition on your hands if you opt for electric because kids often want the faster speed all things being equal.

2. Would a fill-up or recharge be more convenient for me?

Ideally, your son or daughter would be taking care of the upkeep of their scooter. However, many parents know that they will often have to step in and help with some of your children’s daily chores. This is no different than the maintenance of the scooter. For this reason, you need to decide will it be easier for you to take it with you every two months for a fill-up at the gas station or to have it be charged up at the house. The answer here largely comes down to what will work best for you.

From Preteen to Payroll - Preparing Your Teenager For Employment
06 Sep 2008

As with any devoted parent, you were deliriously overjoyed when your toddler learned to walk on their own and you proudly rewarded them when they succeeded in pouring their own cereal (without a deluge of dairy that is). On the other hand, you were absolutely terrified when they told you that they were ready for their first “real” job and immediately tried to tactfully scare them out of it. Now it’s time for you to simply take a few deep breaths, leave the chains and locks alone and consider how you can prepare your teenager (and yourself) for their first plunge into early employment.

Before you immediately reiterate the enormousness of a college education, the edge of entrepreneurship or the obstacles of the common workforce; commend them for their newly found interest in adulthood. As much as you would want them to, learning from your mistakes or just taking your “word for it” isn’t an option for this age group. They are still convinced that things have drastically changed on a cataclysmic scale since you had your first job. They sincerely believe that if they get a job at Target or the Gap, they’ll immediately shoot their way up the labor ladder and instantaneously succeed John Chambers or Rupert Murdoch. Despite their arguments and ambiguous debates based on what we like to call “lack of experience”, they may listen to you when you suggest the following ideas:

The Barbie Doll is a Toy For the Ages
05 Sep 2008

If Cleopatra, who could command almost anything in existence, had been able to purchase a Barbie doll there is little doubt she would have been genuinely delighted with the toy. Barbie, who was born, so to speak, on March 9, 1959, has always made hearts beat a little faster and wallets open a little more quickly. This small piece of molded plastic, which is eleven and one half inches long, could possibly be the world’s most beloved. For young and old alike, Barbie represents an enormous amount of personal and public sentiment.

Mattel, the manufacturer of Barbie dolls, estimates that there are as many as 100,000 very enthusiastic collectors, and that almost half of them spend as much as $1,000.00 per year on Barbie-related items. Without a doubt, Cleopatra, the Queen of the Nile, would feel right at home with these Barbie admirers.
